- Lecturers for the Heritage Language Program are paid on a monthly basis. Paydates can be found on the UC San Diego payroll calendar (usually first working day of the following month.)
- Lecturers are highly encouraged to sign up for direct deposit.
- Earnings statements can be accessed through UCPath (UC's Payroll and HR Information System).

Benefits
From discounts on entertainment to cell phone plans, learn about the variety of benefits available to you as a UCSD employee.
Outside of Open Enrollment in November, certain life events, such as marriage or an addition to family, allow you to make changes to your benefits. To make changes to your benefits, please log into UCPath and complete the online Life Events/Benefits Changes link. Please note that changes must be requested within 31 days of the event. Elections can be cancelled at any time.
Sick time & leaves
All absences should be reported to the Academic Coordinator.
HLP lecturers do not accrue sick leave. However, full time lecturers:
- with less than 10 years of service are eligible for a maximum of two (2) quarters of intermittent paid medical leave within a 10 year period.
- with 10 or more years of service are eligible for a maximum of three (3) quarters of intermittent paid medical leave within each subsequent 10-year period.
Academic Review & Advancement
Pre-SIx Lecturers (those who have worked less than 18 quarters) are given a teaching assesment during their first year and a teaching review during the second year of their reappointment.
Continuing Lecturers are reviewed every 3 years. The review consists of an assessment of teaching excellence during the review period.
Lecturers up for review will be contacted a year in advance of the effective date to begin preparing materials for their file. The Department uses Interfolio, an online document collection and approval routing system.
