Benefit eligibility is determined by the duration and percent of your appointment.  For example, lecturers who work 750 hours in a 12-month period become eligible for UC retirement and full benefits.

Paychecks

• Lecturers for the Linguistics Department are paid on a monthly basis. Paydates can be found on the UC San Diego payroll calendar. 
• All employees are highly encouraged to sign up for direct deposit.
• Earnings statements can be accessed through At Your Service (UC's secure payroll and benefits website).

Pay versus Service

As a lecturer appointed during the academic year, please note that your pay dates may differ from your service dates.

Please notify the chair regarding any unexpected or anticipated absences.  Absences longer than ten (10) service days during the academic year must be approved in advanced and a formal request must be submitted via an Academic Leave of Absence Form (ALAS).  Requests should be submitted at least a month prior to leave.
