Linguistics Language Program Library & Lab

The Language Lab & Library is a specialized collection of language-related materials and equipment, located on the 3rd floor of AP&M. All services and borrowing priveleges are available to all Faculty, Staff, Instructors, and Linguistics Graduate Students.

During the regular academic quarters, the Language Lab is generally open Monday - Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Please feel free to contact the Librarian to assist with all your information needs.

Equipment Rentals:
The Language Lab has a variety of equipment such as laptops, projectors, recorders, speakers, cameras, and dongles available for check-out for instructional purposes. They are generally one-day loans, or as needed. To ensure availability, please reserve it in advance by emailing the Librarian or stopping by the front desk.

Room Reservation:
The Media Classroom (AP&M 3402) is available by reservation. The classroom contains 29 PC workstations, a whiteboard, and a ceiling-mounted projector.
We also have smaller rooms to meet with individual or small groups of students for a conference or activity.

Course Materials:
If you are teaching a course, the Librarian can help with a variety of course materials tasks, such as:

  • Ordering evaluation copies from the publisher.
  • Ordering desk copies from the publisher.
  • Submitting text adoptions to the bookstore.
  • Helping with ordering custom materials and readers.
  • Putting material on Course Reserve, both here at the Language Lab and at Geisel.
Books & Media:
Books, DVDs, CDs, and other materials in the physical collection can be checked out for flexible periods of time by faculty, instructors, and grad students. You can search the online catalog to identify items of interest.  Feel free to contact the Librarian to reserve/hold items and pick them up at the front desk.

Other instructional matierals:
Games, toys, props, pictures, and other teaching materials for LLP Classes are found in the Realia cabinets. These are grouped by language, and there is also a cabinet for non-language-specific materials.

UC San Diego Geisel Library

The main library on campus, Geisel Library, has a wide range of resources to support research, teaching, and general knowledge.
